I have Asperger's Syndrome and am married.
The main problem with this book is it treats us Asperger's as though we have a disability. In my opinion especially Gisela is not treating us Asperger's with respect, understanding and acceptance. We are not disabled people we are just NORMAL BUT DIFFERENT. Overall I found this book to have a cumbersome and confusing writing-style. Basically "an Asperger Marriage" is a chronicle of another couple's fumbles, stumbles and misunderstandings. I suppose the book lived up to its title; it never promised that it contained solutions or recommendations, merely that it was about An Asperger Marriage. On the positive side, they have each written frankly of their own perceptions of their marriage and reflect on the impact which Asperger's syndrome has had on their 12 years of living together. However, if you are looking for a self help book this isn't the book. I am unable to recommend this book as I think "alone together" is a far better book in helping an Asperger/Neuro Typical relationship get back on track. From best to worst in my opinion: Alone together (Shows how to rescue an Asperger/NT marriage) I thoroughly recommend - An Asperger Marriage (Lacking acceptance and respect) I would not recommend - Loving Mr Spock (A weepy Catherine Cookson love story novel) which is a complete waste of money.
