I am a mum of two. My son, who's 8, was diagnosed with mild Aspergers in April this year. Can anyone out there give any advice about helping him socialise. He is good at approaching other children and introducing himself, but then it all falls apart. He starts bouncing around, making silly noises and repeatedly quoting from television cartoons. Some children have been heard to call him the "village idiot" and it just breaks my heart.
Hoping that this message finds you all happy and healthy.

RE: Making Friends
It's a tricky one I agree.
It's a shame people view him in that way, but they obviously do not understand. Maybe you can explain to him that silly noises are not appropriate and that other people don't like it. However given the age, it's not something I would say is that abnormal. It's just most children now seem to be like little adults, which makes people with A.S. stand out a little from the crowd.
