Nicotine - the most insidious substance
I started smoking at 15 and assumed I would do it only for a few years until I came to my senses. However, it is such an addictive substance that I cannot stop at all. I have given in to it now (at 40) and don't think I will ever stop. I actually like to smoke, but i think I smoke far too much. And its so expensive. I always have a memory of walking home from school one day with a cigarrette in my hand and an old man passed me and said: "Those things will kill you. You are stupid for doing it." I didn't reply but remember his words. I only wish I could go back and take that mans advice before the nicotine took control of my brain receptors. It's the good advice that you just can't take! Like rain on your wedding day!

RE: Nicotine - the most insidious substance
That is very true. Smoking is highly addictive and I'm sure it can work either way for someone with Aspergers - they either hate it all together or because of higher stress levels they may be more prone to picking up the habit.
I wish you every success in quitting! Regards, Gareth Roberts Aspergernauts Powered by: IT Support Manchester |
