Teenage Problems and Aspergers
My 16 year old daughter (diagnosed aged 5) is going through a very tough time at the moment. Feeling she doesn't fit in and is now suffering from depression. She constantly says 'I want to go home'. Does anyone have any ideas what this phrase may mean in the Aspergers' world? I know she doesn't mean that she wants to be at her own house or any other place in particular as we have discussed these options loads of times. I would appreciate some insight to this phrase. Also, do all Aspergers walk on their toes?

RE: Teenage Problems and Aspergers
It may be that your daughter is echolalic. That's when an Autistic repeats a phrase that may or may not have meaning to others or themselves. It's more common in Auties, but isn't unheard of in Aspies.

Do not underestimate the Power of Autism. http://www.aspiesoftheworld.com Avatar provided by nosgoth.net via Google Image Search.

RE: Teenage Problems and Aspergers
Maybe just ask the person what it means. Weirdly, I used to say this but as a much, much younger age than this (as a toddler long before my diagnosis age 15), I would say it even when at home and my parents would say to me '... but you are home' to me it meant 'make the thoughts stop beating in my brain and get me out of the universe' and sometimes I verbalized to them that this was what it meant but it could mean any number of things to someone, not just one thing to all aspies and this is an entirely different thing because she is much older.
