What next
I have a daughter aged 6 and she has been having assessments for a while now with camhs and finally we are going to be seeing a doctor and autistic specialist in feb. From our very first assessment we were told our daughter had autistic tendencies and was Likely to be diagnosed with Aspergers (which is a great relief to us, as this means she will have extra support when needed) does anyone know what will happen next??? Before this appointment came through the post for the doctor we were told our daughters file would be reviewed and we would receive a n appointment for the doctor if enough evidence for diagnosis had been received. I am currently sat in A and E with my daughter as she tried to make herself a cup of tea and scolded her arm when left unattended for us to see to her younger brother..... The looks we are getting from the nurses( when we try to explain that she decided to make herself a drink and doesn't understand the dangers of things and yes of course we have tried to explain the dangers of heat to her ) aren't very nice without a firm diagnosis we are just looked at as bad parents and also that she doesn't feel pain the same way as most children ... My daughter has a fixed grin all the time which looks like she is lying when telling people things as the grin is always there no matter what she is trying to tell people .Has anyone else had their child go through camhs diagnosis process ? Is seeing the doctor the final step to diagnosis?? Or will this go on for even more time?? Many thanx in advance Donna xx
