Introduce yourself...

RE: Introduce yourself...
Hello, I'm Marge. My eldest son was diagnosed with Asperger's a couple of years ago. He is now 34. Previously treated for severe social anxiety. Learning about Asperger's was a revelation, but life is difficult for him. He has no social life, has recently started going to NAS Asperger's Social Group once a month, so will see how that goes. He gets very nervous before he goes, and is very depressed after losing his job. He feels worthless and hates his life. I support him all I can, but feel lost sometimes, so was very pleased to find this site. Seems like a lot of information on here.

RE: Introduce yourself...
Hi
I'm the mother of a 12yr son who has Aspergers Syndrome and Dyslexia. He is a wonderful child, but is very much a loner and doesn't hve many friends, certainly none that come over to play. His world is dominated by computer games and books. It breaks my heart to realise how different his world is to mine when I was his age.
Would like to chat to other parents who have similar lives, dealing with and living with AS affects us all.
thanks
Me

RE: Introduce yourself...
Hi, I'll try to introduce myself but I'm not very good at it, I never know what to say!

Ummm, I'm 27 and a mother of 2 kids a son and a daughter. I have 5 goldfish and 2 butterfly plecostomus in a massive aquarium. I love reading scifi/fantasy books with an ever expanding collection, I love space especially photos of stars, etc I find it relaxing, I like scifi alot but I'm not a trekkie, I love opera especially going to performances and I love baking. I live with my son and I'm a lone parent. I recently started an Open University course hoping to go on to study a degree, if all goes well. I was recently diagnosed with Aspergers by the psychiatrist I go to. This is where it gets a little complicated. He definately thinks I have aspergers but he's not fully committing to a diagnosis of aspergers, said something can't fully diagnose me without knowing how I was like growing up or something along those lines. So he's diagnosed me but not diagnosed me at the same time, if that makes any sense?! He encouraged me to look up asperger's on the internet the last time I spoke to him, so I think that he wouldn't have that if he thought it was a small remote possibility? From what I've read about it, it does make a lot of sense and a few of my friends say it makes sense too.

RE: Introduce yourself...
Hi there,

I'm Julie and my partner of 2 months has aspergers. I joined this forum to understand about the various perspectives/expriences on life of people with aspergers and also to hear the perspectives of NTs ( I hope this is the politically correct term to use!

Looking forward to meeting others on here.

Bye for now.

Wink
